Faith, the First step in the Success Journey

By Jonathan Desaussure

Faith is our light in times of darkness that illuminates our pathway to success.

It’s been a minute since I put anything here on this blog. I’ve been focused on finishing another project that I wanted to see done as soon as possible. I did achieve my goal. There were times when I thought I would never get the thing done by the time I wanted it done. Murphy showed up a number of times to hold things up, and I didn’t invite him. Just in case you don’t know Murphy; that’s the name given to unwelcomed and unforeseen problems that get in the way of us accomplishing something. As I sat in my office chair with a big smile on my face, savoring the feeling of accomplishment in spite of all the challenges, I reflected on how I managed to get through it all. It was by the use of faith and action. Faith was the key.

If you’ve lived long enough, you’ve no doubt ran into situations that have turned your life, and your schedule, upside down, inside out, or both. The situation types are endless. Any negative situation can be devastating and binding on the human psyche. Here’s how.

Imagine if you will, a person who works three jobs, and ends up losing the one that pays the most money. Imagine the emotional distress of the person that has wrecked his or her third new car in under a year, and the insurance company won’t pay up because they think the accidents were on purpose. Even worse, imagine the person on the day before their wedding, receiving word they have cancer, and it’s fatal. Things like this happen to us all. The natural tendency for most people is to allow subtle negative thoughts to infiltrate the mind. Those thoughts will go from a mild negative to a hardened failure attitude.

“You know bad things always happen to me.” “I don’t know why I even try; it’s not going to work out anyway.” “If God mean for me to be better off, I would have been born better off.” Here’s the big phrase today. “It is what it is. What can you do about it?” Have you heard people say that? Those people have resigned themselves to a life of the status quo. They no longer believe that can do anything about their situation. Life has beaten them down consistently, and they have let the negative thoughts infiltrate so much until they have an attitude of resignation rooted in a belief system that determines them as failures.
Well, how does one conquer the disagreeable situations life offers? How does one break the mental chains of self-defeating behavior? Choose to have faith that a better situation is possible and then take action to change things bossed on faith, not obvious facts. Let me explain.

A human’s behavior is based on his or her belief system. How do you think one would act if they thought they were a failure? Exactly! If a person continues to operate with a failure belief system, he or she would produce failure actions, which would yield a life a failure and quiet desperation ladened with excuses to appease their feelings of lack and failure. I call that the failure cycle. The cycle goes as follows: Words of unbelief come out of their mouths, which feeds their negative beliefs about themselves, which breeds more words of unbelief and excuses. Some thing has to change in order for them to change. If one doesn’t change on the inside, he or she won’t change their circumstances on the outside. All one needs to do to break the cycle is have faith in a positive situation opposite of what he or she is experiencing, with some work to get the opposite, and the failure cycle would be broken. Start with faith-filled words. You might say something to the effect of, “I can do that,” to get you started. I believe that’s why God gave us the ability to choose faith. We have the ability to choose to move our minds in a different direction, which will give us a different picture of our future, which will yield ultimately our lives moving in a different direction. Often we can’t see which way to go during times or trials or difficulty. Faith is our light in the darkness that illuminates our pathway to success. Choose faith.

I hope this blesses you and helps you conquer what is before you and succeed in your life. Be sure to follow me here on this webpage and pass on the news if you like it. I’d appreciate it.
